So, here I am. It’s 5 in the morning and I’ve already been awake for quite some time. This seems to be an ongoing theme with me, a lack in sleep is something I’m getting used to. It sucks, to be honest. I’m always tired, and, as evident at last night’s class, gitty at times. Why? Not sure. Oh well, I’ll live through it. Since I’m up so early and won’t be going back to sleep in fear of actually falling asleep and waking up completely groggy and lazy at 7:00 when I get up for work, I thought I’d randomly write about things here.
I’ve given myself a timeline in which I want to become ‘fit’. At the start of internship, August 24, I want to be about 15lbs lighter than I am right now. How am I going to do it? I haven’t a clue. When I lived in Saskatoon after high school (2000-2007), I danced with Yevshan Ukrainian Folk Ballet Ensemble. We rehearsed Monday, Wednesday & Friday evenings from 6:30-9:00. I did that for seven years. I didn’t have to worry about trying to become fit or lose weight. With a workout routine as rigorous as that was, I had no choice but to remain in shape. Now that I don’t dance anymore I’m really lost when it comes to exercise. I took for granted the physicality that Ukrainian dancers endure and now have no idea how to get back into shape. I could go to the gym, but I have no idea what to do once I get there. I could join a sports team/running club/other dance group but I’m frightened that I’d be unable to commit my time. What should I do? Give me some ideas.
Here is a picture of me in action, dancing with Yevshan:
Why is it so small? Meh.
Here’s another, perhaps it’ll be a larger one.
I really should have polished up my boots before this show….oh well.
They’re well used.
Yevshan is heading to Ukraine at the end of this month for a couple of weeks. They are touring the country and putting on some concerts along the way. I went to Ukraine in 2002 with Yevshan and fell more in love with the Ukrainian culture at that time. I’ve since been back, in 2007. I hope my friends in Yevshan have a great trip this time, and know that I totally wish I was coming with them. They’d better take some good pictures.
On Tuesday this week, I met with my cooperating teacher at Knoll. She supplied me with a number of resources that I can use to get ready for teaching IP 10, and took me for a tour of the school. It got me even more excited to get in there and get started. I told her I was nervous, and I wasn’t joking, but I’m also ready for it to start. I have a lot of preparation to do before the students get there but I have a lot of time to do it.
What should I do for extracurricular activities? I mentioned these to her: The musical (Knoll puts on a production each November), the SRC, GSA, there is a Tech Club which isn’t elaborated much on the website but perhaps I could put some of my new skills from ECMP 355 into action. We’ll have to see what that’s all about. There’s also SADD and other clubs that I can get involved in. I have a lot to look forward to.
Anyhow, perhaps I should go and have a bit more of a lay-down before having to get ready for work. Have a great day, everyone.
5:00?!?! Kid are you serious – you need to take some sleeping pills or something!!! I also want to get in shape before internship – I was never really “in shape” anyways but I am thinking what the heck what time is better than now! We should be gym buddies! Giving each other the support and encouragement needed in our fitness journey! hahah I should write fitness commercials with a cheezy line like that! I am thinking of starting “eating right” (what ever that means) and hitting the gym – maybe beginning next week when things are not so crazy! I have the CARMEN ELECTRA STRIP TEASE videos!!! We so need to do those!! AND I have a ball workout video AND TURBO JAM – which is a bit to intense for me hahah! Let me know what you think and we should get started in our……fitness journey!
Just checking the ebus blogs on my phone because I can’t sleep. I’ll have to check yours out more often as I had no idea you were still using it. I’m fairly unmotivated when it comes to working out. I’m just trying to pay attention to my calorie intake, focusing on getting enough proteins and complex carbohydrates. If you want to go for a jog some time let me know. I’m not working that often so I’m sure finding a time that works for both of us won’t be too hard.
Not sure on where you are on your progression, but CrossFit should do the trick. Some of the CrossFitters, like Chris T, are doing the “Paleo diet” which basically consists of eliminating grains, dairy and processed food from the diet and eating lean meat and lots of vegetables and fruit. I never went hardcore paleo, but I tried to do more of that and less of the crap I used to eat, and it dropped me another 10 pounds after my initial big CrossFit weight loss.
Awesome, thanks for the tips Tyler. Crossfit seems to be working for me, and I’m full of energy which is a complete change from before. My diet has changed, too, not as drastically as the paleo one but it’s better than it was and it will get better still. Thanks again buddy.
